It took less than an hour and I was heading back out. This time I talked to Ellie for a few minutes. They were following a few leads but she didn’t know anything new from the last time we spoke. She had just gotten home from the night shift when I called and I could tell she was tired, so I promised I’d call tomorrow.

“Are you still driving down for a few days while you’re here?” she asked.

“Yes. Text me your schedule and I’ll work around it and let you know in the morning.”

“Good, see ya.”

Just as I clicked off, the phone rang again. Looking at the caller ID, I started laughing.

“Hey, Andrea. Did Emily wake you up?”

“She called but I was already up and out for a walk.”

“At six in the morning?”

“Best time. Now quit stalling and tell me what’s going on!”

I laughed with Andrea all the way back to Asher’s house, hanging up as I pulled into his driveway.

Andrea basically said the same thing as Emily, just follow my heart, but she also told me to keep my eyes wide open.

“Love isn’t a fairly-tale, it’s real life. And real life is acceptance and sometimes compromise, but the main thing is to be true to yourself in what you really want.”

Asher met me at the door with open arms. Just looking at him made my heart beat faster and my body want to wrap around every inch of him, holding him close and never letting go.

As he held me in his arms, I told myself to just enjoy this moment. Tomorrow would take care of itself, one way or another.
